East Region Seniors Womens Championship

Terms of Competition

  1. Entry Qualifications

Entrants must:

  1. be female.
  2. be aged 50 or over on the day of the Championship.
  3. be a playing member of a golf club affiliated to one of the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambs & Hunts, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk or Suffolk, and listed on the WHS as such.
  4. from the date of applying to enter until the closure of the competition be of Amateur Status as defined by R&A Rules Limited.
  5. have a Handicap Index of 16.4 or lower at time of entry.
  1. Entry Requirements

Entries must be received by the closing date, 11pm on 29th July 2025.

An entrant wishing to withdraw will have her entry fee refunded if notification is received by the HG County Secretary prior to the draw being made.

 

  1. Field Size

This event is being played in conjunction with the East Region Womens and Girls Championships. The combined maximum number of players in all 3 Championships will be 72. The exact number in each Championship will be determined by the Tournament Committee once entries to all events have been received. There will be a minimum of 15 entrants in each of the 3 Championships.

In the event of any ballot, places will be allocated to the players with the lowest Handicap Indices.

Caddies are not permitted.

  1. Transportation

Players must walk at all times, unless permission has been granted in advance by the Tournament Committee. Any requests to use a buggy must be received by the HG County Secretary by 5th August 2025.

 

  1. Resolution of Ties

Ties will be resolved by card countback. 

 

  1. Rules

The competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A, the 2025 EG Hard Card – https://static.whsplatform.englandgolf.org/clubs/1000-1/uploads/pdf/2025%20hard%20card.pdf,

and any Additional Local Rules determined by the Tournament Committee.

 

  1. Terms of Play

The competition shall be 18 holes scratch medal strokeplay, with additional handicap and County team prizes.

The Tournament Committee has the right to alter this format if necessary to achieve a result.

A player may compete in both this Championship and the Womens Championship. In this case her 1st round score in the Womens Championship will be deemed to be her score in the Seniors Championship.

Competitors playing in only the Seniors Championship (18 holes) will tee off between the 2 rounds of the Womens Championship.

 

  1. Rule 25

England Golf guidance on the eligibility of players to use Rule 25 will apply.

Any player wishing to use Rule 25 must apply to the HG County Secretary by 5th August 2025.

 

  1. Entry Fee

The entry fee for the Womens Seniors Championship of £40 per person will include tea/coffee, a 1 course meal before or after play, and tea & cake when play is complete if required. 

A player also entering the Womens Championship is only required to pay the entry fee of £50 for that Championship, with no additional fee for the Seniors Championship. (A player must complete separate online entries for both Championships but only one entry fee will be taken.)

 

  1. Prize giving

Prize presentations for all 3 Championships will be held when all play is complete.
